The Spruce Mountain High School Envirothon team was able to represent Maine at the 2018 National Conservation Foundation (NCF) North American Envirothon in Pocatello, Idaho. The group from Jay, Maine was gone for a week of competition and returned the last weekend of July. Attached is a press release prepared by their advisor along with some photos.
The Spruce Mt. team places 6th overall [out of about 50 teams] and took the 1st place trophy in the Forestry portion of the competition. They returned to Maine with $3,500 of scholarship money.
SSSNNE has provided monetary and technical support to the Environthon in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont for a number of years
